Amazing, useful, funny?... interesting anyway...
Researching all these different ideas is characterized by common purpose: improvement of program algorithms for composing music. But, what about "The opposite way*"?...in the sense of trying to build a meaningful music/song/sound that represents a particular image/picture...(where measurement, position and color of areas on an observed pictures are encoded**). For instance: how sounds Van Gogh's "Sunflowers", Andy Warhol's "Marilyn"***, picture or photo of any landscape...your photo on ID...?
The announcement of the idea for new OPEN SOURCE software
Let's extend this open idea to open source application created by all of us.
We named it, temporary, TUNE OF PICTURE ("resounding of image").
Here's a very basic explanation "How it works, How it would work, How it will work,..."
1. Choose a picture/image/photo...you like from your PC, web, scan...
2. Decrease the resolution (keep ratio) to 8 x N pixels (portrait) or 16 x N (landscape).
Determine the dominant / main color of the picture (closest to one of twelve colors scale below) by eye using or an appropriate software. This color determines tonality.
In this case it's third color: D_. Later about "How to determine Major or Minor".
3. Software "reads" this picture in "21 black and white color picture mode" (0% black, 5%, 10%...90%, 95%, 100% white).
Applicable to keyboard:
4. How to determine note's duration? Software recognizes intensity of areas and creates durations by merging identical:
Based on our current research we were able to produce some results.
We hope that the results we obtain can help - to all of us - to build new application.
Currently we work, mostly, with black and white and grayscale images.
In this moment it is necessary to find out the most possible of any basic facts, "rules"...from color images.****

*Opposite to Music Visualization
Music visualization, a feature found in some media player software, generates animated imagery based on a piece of recorded music. The imagery is usually generated and rendered in real time and synchronized with the music as it is played. (Wikipedia)
**Mark Guzdial about Mitch Parry
He's getting interested in visualizing music, in the sense of trying to build a meaningful graphic that represents particular song (where timbres, intensities, and melody are encoded).
***Remark about "Marilyn" - it sounds a little bit "techno" even created in the 1960th...
